Take advantage of your exposure at PrinterListings by writing an effective description that will both make sense to potential customers and also help your company get found easier.

MASTER OF YOUR OWN DESCRIPTION

With our directory, you control the text that shows up next to your company in our search results.  We want to help customers find the custom t-shirt printing company that best fits their needs, so we’ve put together this quick page to help you get the most out of the description field.

You can read about the important differences between search engines (like Google) and specialized directories (like PrinterListings) in our recent article.

SHORT DESCRIPTION

When a customer searches our directory to find a t-shirt printer, each business listing that shows in the search results has the ability to show a short description of the business next to the business name.  This short description should describe an overview of your business offering in one or two sentences. It should be concise and not filled with hyperbole or just be a laundry list of keywords.

When someone types in a keyword (like “uniforms”) into our directory of custom t-shirt printers, our software will look at both the short description, the long description, and the keywords that the business enters for itself.

A good short description is one that quickly tells the customer what printing services you offer and any specialties or regions that you may serve.  That way, the customer can scan and read the different results to find out which best fits their needs. Basic listing Short Descriptions are limited to 125 characters and Preferred Printer listings get 250 characters.

A bad description would be one that is not a complete sentence, or one that is just filled with lots of keywords and marketing adjectives.

An example of a “not good” short description would be:

"Best quality screen printer. Embroidery, t-shirts, hats, hoodies, alabama, free shipping, custom printing"

LONG DESCRIPTION

When a customer clicks to your individual business listing page in our directory, this is the description that is displayed.

This should be an expanded version of the Short Description that goes more into depth about what type of printing your company offers, what local areas you serve, what specialities your company has and what awards your company has won, if any.

This should be written in full, complete sentences (no lists of keywords or sentence fragments) without hyperbole. Keep in mind that each of the words in your description is searchable. So when a customer searches our site for “Los Angeles DTG”, if you include Los Angeles in your description, your business listing will show up in the customer’s search results.

Basic listing Long Descriptions are limited to 250 characters and Preferred Printer listings get 1000 characters to describe their business offerings.
